In an estrus peak, the goat is in "standing heat" (when the doe/nanny allows the buck/billy to mount her), which is about every 17-18 days. Seasonal breeders are goats that go into heat only during September to December. Occasionally, when females are with the males, seasonal breeders can be bred as early as July.

A female goat's estrus lasts 2-3 days. Females can be bred at 4-12 months old, and it depends on breed, body condition, genetics, genetic records, nutrition, and environment. Males can begin breeding at 4 months old, but them breeding at 1 years old is best.
